Mental Health Program

Defendants who are charged with or convicted of a federal offense are especially vulnerable to symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression. Some defendants become suicidal and attempt suicide as a cry for help; in some cases, they succeed in ending their lives. Probation officers are aware of these risk factors and have many resources available to help defendants who are experiencing mental health symptoms and/or are suicidal.

If you are experiencing mental health issues, talk with your probation officer about obtaining treatment. If you are indigent and have no medical insurance, your probation officer will assist you in signing up for the Affordable Care Act and refer you to treatment through contracted funds. The following mental health treatment agencies are available and easy to access.
