Pretrial Services, Presentence Investigations, and Post Conviction Supervision Court units in the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System carry out probation and pretrial services functions in the U.S. District Courts.  These court units provide services that investigate and supervise persons charged with and convicted of crimes against the United States, help federal courts ensure fair administration of justice; and provide services that protect the community.

Through our officers and other employees, the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office works to make the criminal justice process effective and the public safe.
